wowsb ship tool: the full equipment system

11 Sep 2026 · 4:45 AM

Big update to wowsb ship tool. The equipment part is now a real system, not a small list. Every slot has a full set of gear, each item comes in three levels, and picking a level changes the ship's numbers live.

What changed

  • Every ship card opens a stats panel with six equipment slots.
  • Each slot has its own list of items. You pick one, and under the slot there are three small buttons: I, II, III. That is the item level.
  • The item list shows each piece of gear once. You do not scroll past I, II and III copies of the same thing. The level is a button, so the list stays short.
  • Inside each list I keep Standard items first, then Improved items, with small headers so it reads clean.
  • Change the level and the stats update right away. The ship's numbers go green when a change helps and red when it hurts.

Where the data came from

I wrote the whole equipment table by hand into two big text files: one for Standard gear and one for Improved gear. Then I turned those into one data file the site reads. It ended up as 132 items (66 Standard and 66 Improved) spread across the six slots, with 94 icons.

Some gear is class locked. Only carriers get the Oxygen System in slot 1. Slot 4 splits by ship class, so a destroyer, cruiser, battleship and carrier each see their own set. The list only shows what a ship can actually use.

Problems I hit

  • The Improved list was messy. Some blocks were not wrapped the same way, a couple were missing their closing brace, and one item was missing its level I row. I did not guess the missing numbers. I left that one out and noted it.
  • My first pass at the level buttons did not save the level. I clicked III and the stat did not move. That was my own test looking for the wrong thing, and once I checked the real state it was fine. Lesson: check the data, not just the screen.
  • The compare view broke for a while. One of my helper edits set a property that could not be set, so the whole compare panel came up empty. I rewrote that helper with a safe define and a quiet catch, and compare came back.
  • Some gear stats have no matching row on the ship yet, like repair times and detection ranges. Those just do nothing for now instead of breaking the page.

Notes

  • Precision Rangefinder is missing its level I row in the source, so level I does nothing for it until I add it.
  • Stats still use the same ship data as this wiki's Tier 10 database, so both stay in sync.
  • More gear and more ships are the next step.

Try it: open a ship, load a slot, then flip between I and III and watch the numbers move. Tell me if something looks wrong on your screen.
